Looking for the Best ID Slot Punch?

January 16, 2009 · Filed Under Large Mailroom, Print Shop · Comments

Do you need an ID slot punch? Are you wondering “what the heck is an ID slot punch”? If the answer to either of those questions is yes, then read on.

What Does it Do?
ID Slot punches are like hole punchers, but for ID cards. Say you have a luggage tag, ID clip or parking pass that’s designed to go through a lanyard or clip – you’re going to need to punch a slot in it in order to pass through the tie or clip. That’s where an ID slot punch comes in.

The models at Lloyds of Indiana range from heavy-duty hand held tools to multi-purpose, table-top units designed to take on plastic, PVCs, heavy papers and more.

What Types Do We Have?
We have three different kinds of ID slot punches:

1. Our handheld and heavy-duty Stainless Steel ID Slot Punch – it works like a single-hole-puncher and it’s great for quick or small jobs done right at the counter (think luggage tags, parking cards, ID tags, etc).

2. The Multi-ID Card Punch – a 3-in-1 table-top unit that can do slots, holes and even corner-rounding. This bad boy can Read more

Top of the Line Commercial Paper Shredders

January 13, 2009 · Filed Under Large Mailroom, Small Biz Printing · Comments

A friend of mine is an accountant for a large law firm in Seattle that used to use a mobile shredding service. Over the course of 4 years, they paid that company close to $16,000 to shred and haul their sensitive documents on an ongoing basis.

It was an impressive figure, especially considering they could have bought their own industrial shredder for closer to $10,000 and operated it for a lot less than the difference and for a lot longer. In addition, their sensitive or confidential documents would be destroyed in-house.

Yes, it’s pretty simple, industrial or commercial paper shredders shred paper. But these units are significantly larger and more powerful than anything you’ll find at Staples.

A basic industrial shredder can handle upwards of 90 sheets of paper at once, making mincemeat out of 40-50 feet of paper every minute. A standard, entry-level shredder weighs around 600-800 pounds and is about the size of a large photocopier. These are machines built to do one thing really well – shred.

Super Precise Corner Rounding Machines

January 8, 2009 · Filed Under Large Mailroom, Print Shop · Comments

Corner rounding machines quickly remove the sharp corners on a piece (or thousands of pieces) of paper or plastic. The idea is to give that report or document a professionally finished look. They can also be used to round off the edges on printed ID tags, making them less sharp and less likely to catch on someone’s clothes or wallet.

What Does it Do?
Most corner rounding machines have one purpose – to round off sharp edges. Depending on the model, they can cut paper, plastic, laminates and even thin metal.

What Types Do You Have?
Lloyds of Indiana sells nine different kinds of corner rounding machines ranging from a basic, manually operated corner rounder (the Akiles Diamond 1) to massive machines designed to take on big jobs (the Lassco CR-50P).

If you’ve got a small job or an around-the-office need for occasional corner rounding, check out the Akiles Diamond 1. It’s well made, built to last and can take all types of materials (PVC, polyester, leather, paper, polypropeline, etc). It even lets you switch out the dies for specialty corners. Best of all, it’s a table-top, manual unit that’s easy to store.
