Best of Class Booklet Makers

Akiles Booklet Mac

Akiles Booklet Mac

We get a lot of calls from institutions like schools and community organizations and businesses who want to be able to make a lot of small booklets in-house, but they don’t need a full binding system. We usually recommend our booklet makers – they can handle up to 800 booklets in an hour, they’re compact and they’re easy to use.

What Do They Do?
A booklet maker or booklet machine basically creates booklets by taking a stack of paper and then folding it and stapling it along the spine (this is called a saddle staple). It’s ideal for making pamphlets, reports, bulletins, newsletters and, of course, booklets.

Our booklet makers are automated, meaning they can be interfaced with a collator to automate the entire booklet making process. So, no more counting, sorting, stacking, folding and stapling by hand.

What Brands Do We Have?
Here at Lloyds of Indiana, we sell two brands of booklet machines – The Akiles Booklet Mac and the FD 170 Booklet Maker.

The Akiles can produce up to 800 booklets in an hour and can make booklets up to 64 pages in thickness. There’s no warm-up time and it can handle folding and stapling or both simultaneously. It’s ideal for short jobs at a print shop, businesses and institutions like schools, churches or community organizations.

The Formax FD 170 Booklet Maker can fold up to 15 sheets at once (making a 60-page double-sided booklet) and, like the Akiles, can do up to 800 booklets in an hour. It can also handle stapling for a polished look.

How Much Do They Cost?
The two booklet makers that we carry cost upwards of $2000. The Akiles BookletMac is currently on sale for $2199 ($300 less than standard market price) and the FD 170 Booklet Maker sells on our site for $2995.

Small Biz Solution, the 4″ Commercial Pouch Laminator

It’s the day before a massive conference and you have 300 ID cards to laminate. Do you want to be using the $49.99 plastic laminator you got at Target that can handle one ID card every three minutes or the Akiles 4” Pouch Laminator, which is capable of laminating 0.4” per seconds without the need for foil carriers?

I’m guessing you’d prefer to use the Akiles.

What Does it Do?
The Akiles 4” Pouch Laminator is essentially a laminating machine designed to take laminating pouches up to 4-inches in diameter. It’s commercial-grade, heavy duty and has four silicon rollers, which eliminate the need for foil or paper carriers.

The best part? You can leave it on stand-by. This mode keeps the unit hot, but doesn’t run out the motor. So no more waiting 20 minutes for your laminator to heat up.

And How Much Does it Cost?
The Akiles 4” Pouch Laminator sells for an affordable $145.00 on the Lloyds website. Considering how much time it will save you in terms of waiting for the machine to warm up and then on the actual laminating, it’s well worth the cost.

Super Precise Corner Rounding Machines

January 8, 2009 · Filed Under Large Mailroom, Print Shop · Comment

Corner rounding machines quickly remove the sharp corners on a piece (or thousands of pieces) of paper or plastic. The idea is to give that report or document a professionally finished look. They can also be used to round off the edges on printed ID tags, making them less sharp and less likely to catch on someone’s clothes or wallet.

What Does it Do?
Most corner rounding machines have one purpose – to round off sharp edges. Depending on the model, they can cut paper, plastic, laminates and even thin metal.

What Types Do You Have?
Lloyds of Indiana sells nine different kinds of corner rounding machines ranging from a basic, manually operated corner rounder (the Akiles Diamond 1) to massive machines designed to take on big jobs (the Lassco CR-50P).

If you’ve got a small job or an around-the-office need for occasional corner rounding, check out the Akiles Diamond 1. It’s well made, built to last and can take all types of materials (PVC, polyester, leather, paper, polypropeline, etc). It even lets you switch out the dies for specialty corners. Best of all, it’s a table-top, manual unit that’s easy to store.
